A headset that reads brainwaves – TED presentation

Tan Lee presents a new technology that allows wireless control of computers and equipment using brainwaves. This means you only have to ‘think’ something to make a computer ‘do’ something, from controlling a wheelchair, a model helicopter, or a character in a virtual game. The headset is also affordable, at $299.oo

When I first saw this presentation, combining this technology with my body awareness tactile imaging system leapt out at me. This should make fine motor control much easier to read with the sensors, because body awareness actions stimulate the nerves in the physical body.  I went to this company’s website and had a live chat with an operator, but I think it was a robot as it was not very helpful.

Very interesting, specially done the fact we don’t know how brain is wired to arms, legs, etc.. Then, it’s no more than a learning feedback process the control of any system linked to this headset.

A long way to go before this type of thing is perfected, but what a fantastic process. Aid for handicapped to control of machines.
The signals detected may better be detected by super sensitive antennae than by contact electrodes. I suspect such antennae are just around the corner too.
